Hyderabad’s Osmania hospital women doctor’s assault: Uncivilized society and irresponsible administration

Does this happen in any profession, while doing normal work, a female staff is assaulted  by mobs and no action is taken by a civilized society and a responsible government.

Another shameful incidence in Hyderabad, where women doctors were beaten by mobs should have shaken the civilized society or any responsible administration and government. But in such chaotic environment, it does not make a news of importance to people, who matter and are responsible for controlling such uncivilized actions.

It is not just women rights commission, the silence of women activists, socialites etc, who cry hoarse for women rights, is perplexing. These organizations and individuals have been silent all along since the women being assaulted are “doctors”. No dharna, no protest or statement of condemn. Is that the situation that doctors are not having rights of normal human beings.

Nearly 250 junior doctors and house surgeons have been boycotting their duties except for emergency services since Sunday night, demanding security for them and action against those involved in the attack. The strike by medicos hit services at OGH, one of the oldest hospitals in the country and the biggest government-run facility in Telangana.

Four attendants of a woman patient, who died during the treatment, assaulted two female junior doctors and a duty doctor on Sunday night, when The 70-year-old patient, who was in critical condition, died at Intensive Care Unit. Alleging that she died due to negligence by doctors, four of her relatives barged into the ICU and attacked them. It said this was the fourth incident at OGH in one month.

Lot of people including our respected leaders and some great actors talk in media about this slogan and pretend to do a lot about saving and educating our daughters. While on the other hand, those fathers who made their daughter a doctor and truly did the society proud are anguished. Their daughters have been assaulted by mobs just because they were doctors. This has bared the hypocrisy prevailing in our society .Why none of the politicians or actors, both male and female, have not taken a stand for this cause openly?  My humble request to them is to do more than mere sloganeering and tokenism,  just  show that  you really mean, what you say.

Women doctor assault- – time worse than MAHABHARTA for women doctors

Real story of a female doctor assault : Routine affair for uncivilized society

Few words here can’t describe the plight of a female doctor, who was brutally assaulted by a mob at her residence, for no fault of hers. This incidence happened few months back, about 200 KM away from Delhi.

It was an evening time and a boy had an accident with a bus. He was brought to a community health center.  Female medical officer who had her residence inside the hospital in staff quarters examined the patient and found that he was already dead. She explained the situation to the family members with due sensitivity, did all the paper work and returned to her residence in about an hour. Mob kept on gathering and after half an hour, they barged into the house of the lady medical officer.

They dragged her by hair in front of her teenage daughter. Mob started assaulting her with fists and legs along with a rod. Her daughter cried and shouted for help.   Mob even tried to set her on fire. This brutal and devilish assault continued till neighbours from other staff quarters saved her with great difficulty and took her away. Mob continued rampage in her house and hospital, trying to break everything.

She sustained severe head injuries and was admitted in a hospital for about ten days. What was her fault and why mob did this to her? Is being a doctor and working in remote area her fault? Everybody knew that the reason for death of the boy was what happened outside the hospital.  There was an errant bus driver, who was responsible.  Then why was she made a punching bag for venting out emotions of the bereaved relatives. Nothing and really nothing can justify this barbaric act. Emotions should not be allowed to take such a demonic form. This is simply jungle raj, goonism and  expression of a most  uncivilized kind of society, which simply cannot be excused by any sort of reasoning. The incident was protested by the professional bodies as is the routine and after few day things normalized for everybody else except that terrorised family. The said lady medical officer took posting elsewhere and as is usual, nothing much happened to the accused.

Woman doctor assault : Era worse than MAHABHARATA for female doctors

There was again same silence and little concern shown by our media, courts, prominent people, celebrities, human right commission, woman right activists and women commission. This again brings forth the hypocrisy of these people and organizations, who otherwise cry about woman rights and empowerment.  Whenever a female is assaulted, there is an outrage but the same support is not extended to a female if she is a doctor. Such bestiality should create havoc in minds of civilized people but this apathy to such incidents clearly indicates otherwise. Have we become so uncivilised that an incident such as this just remains as a small news item in a local paper? Can’t we see that such incidents are harbinger of many more in future? It is important to realise that this is the time to unify and condemn such episodes vehemently and prominently so that the miscreants realise that they cannot get away with it.

female doctor assault: silence of human right commission, woman right commission

female doctor assault: era worse than MAHABHARATA for woman doctors

Doctor (including women doctors)assault: Silence of courts, human right commission, commission for woman rights is appalling:

Human rights of doctor community have been grossly violated by physical assaults. It is painful to see that the authorities that are supposed to take action have maintained a silence all these years about this issue.

Even courts who have vehemently raised concerns about cruelty against dogs have shown no concern about issue of cruelty against docs (doctors).

Despite reports of assault against female doctors,  commission for rights of women have maintained an inexplicable silence till now.

What is role of human rights commission, if rights of a hard working community like doctors are violated and what is it supposed to do? I really fail to understand what else will it take to shake them out of their stupor ?

If the courts, the commission for women’s rights, and the human rights commission are maintaining silence, is it because the rights of doctors were never clearly defined and outlined.  The duties of a doctor have always been enumerated but the rights have never been discussed. Isn’t it time that we discuss this important question  “What are the rights of a doctor?”
